# Connect yourself to GoGoPortal

These instructions are for you, the member's own agent. The member wants you connected to GoGoPortal (https://www.gogoportal.io) so you can use its AI Agents for them, inside the limits they set. You connect through GoGoPortal's connector, one file that runs on this computer as an MCP server. They gave you a connect code that looks like GGP-7K2M-9QXT. It works once, for 15 minutes. You swap it for a key that stays in a file on the member's computer. Never ask the member for the key, never print it, and never paste it into a chat or a settings file.

The connector does the cleaning itself, on this computer: to note what a project taught, you call one tool, note_lesson, and it takes out secrets, personal data, full paths and the member's client names before anything reaches GoGoPortal.

If you can't download files or run commands here, say so, and give the member sections 1 and 2 to do in a terminal themselves; then they add the entry it prints to this app's MCP settings.

## 1. Download the connector

Download https://www.gogoportal.io/docs/downloads/connector.ts and save it as ~/.gogoportal/connector.ts, in the member's home folder. Make the folder if it isn't there. It is one file with no dependencies, and Node 22.18 or later runs it as it is. Check with `node --version`, and if Node is older, tell the member.

## 2. Connect with the code

Run this in a terminal. On Windows, write the home folder in full instead of ~.

```
node ~/.gogoportal/connector.ts connect <code> --site https://www.gogoportal.io --no-register --no-lessons-line
```

It swaps the code for the key and saves the key in ~/.gogoportal/www.gogoportal.io/key, in the member's home folder. On macOS and Linux the connector sets the file so other accounts on the computer can't open it; on Windows the file keeps the home folder's own permissions. The connector reads the key from there. If it says the code didn't work, ask the member to delete that connection on https://www.gogoportal.io/account/connections and make a new one at https://www.gogoportal.io/connect?agent=other, then run it again with the code they send you.

Then it prints the entry that adds the gogoportal server, with the connector's full path. Add it to your own MCP settings, not a project file. The entry holds only the site's address. There is no key in it, and there shouldn't be. In an app that runs local models it goes in that app's MCP settings: LM Studio: the Program tab, Install, Edit mcp.json; Jan: Settings, MCP Servers, Add MCP Server, with the command, its argument and the variable each in its own field; AnythingLLM: plugins/anythingllm_mcp_servers.json in its storage folder; Cline: MCP Servers, Configure; Continue: mcpServers in its config.yaml, as type stdio; its tools work in agent mode.

It also says which connection you are and what the member switched on. When the member asks you to send a file with a call, or to include files with a project's lessons, ask which folder and pass it as folder; lessons alone need no folder. Nothing needs to go in settings. Never choose a folder yourself.

Last, it prints how the member lets you use GoGoPortal's tools without being asked each time, for each agent. That change is the member's: pass it to them as it is, and don't make it yourself.

## 3. Load the server

If you need a restart to see the new server, say so.

## 4. Confirm

Call the check_coverage tool THROUGH the gogoportal server. If you do not have a tool called check_coverage, the server is not loaded yet: go back to 2's output and add the entry, then restart. Running the connector by hand does not count.

Give it a one-line description of what the member is working on. If lessons are switched off for this connection, it refuses, and that refusal means the connection works. "Not connected yet" means the connect command didn't finish. "This key no longer works" means the member revoked this connection since: ask them to make a new one at https://www.gogoportal.io/connect?agent=other and send you its text, then run the connect command it names with that code.

Approvals happen on the site, not in this chat: when the member asks you to submit what a project taught, draft the lessons and submit them, then give them the sign-off link.

If your environment blocks a GoGoPortal tool, say so in one line and point the member to "Let your own agent use GoGoPortal's tools" on their API page. Never work around a block, and never change permission settings yourself. Their API page: https://www.gogoportal.io/account/connections#allow-tools.

Then tell the member you're connected.
